Camp Logan

Camp Logan refers to a small neighborhood adjacent to Memorial park, bound by Arnott Street to the south, Westcott Street to the east, and Memorial Park to the west and north. It is a relatively small neighborhood that consists mainly of attached and freestanding townhomes.

Due to the irregular triangular street pattern, there are several small pocket parks in the community, adding a surprising element of openness to this serene urban community. One would never know that the bustling Washington corridor lies just beyond the community’s edge. The neighborhood is popular among young professionals and young families who enjoy the neighborhood’s fantastic location in close proximity to Downtown, Uptown/The Galleria and other major employment centers, and enjoys easy access to I-10 and the 610 loop.

The History:

The name Camp Logan originally referred to a military training camp that existed mainly on the land currently occupied by Memorial Park, as well as the site of the Camp Logan community proper and the Crestwood neighborhood to the south. The camp was active during the World War I era and development began following the war. While most of the camp became Memorial Park, some was developed into this early Houston suburb. As Houston urbanized, the neighborhood became a target for redevelopment and almost all original houses have been replaced by relatively recent townhomes.
